YouTube founders create Mixbit: Vine-like video sharing with a difference

Introducing MixBit

YouTube co-founders Chad Hurley and Steve Chen are launching a fun new way to create videos together

SAN MATEO, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Today AVOS Systems introduces the MixBit™ mobile app, a fun new way for people to create videos together. The MixBit app combines an intuitive user experience with rich editing tools so anyone can record, edit and publish videos as short as a second or as long as an hour, directly from their mobile device. MixBit.com is also the first video site that allows users to collaborate with each other and remix content uploaded by the community.

“Video is the most interesting and engaging way to share an idea with others. We want to remove barriers to video creation, while encouraging and enabling open collaboration. More than just capturing brief moments over time, MixBit helps people bring stories to life.”
“We started YouTube to democratize video distribution. Now we’re democratizing video creation,” said Chad Hurley, co-founder of AVOS. “Video is the most interesting and engaging way to share an idea with others. We want to remove barriers to video creation, while encouraging and enabling open collaboration. More than just capturing brief moments over time, MixBit helps people bring stories to life.”

Details about MixBit

The MixBit app is free and currently available on iOS (iPhone, iPad and iPod touch).
Visitors to MixBit.com can create their own videos without recording original content by remixing public video clips they find on the site.
Videos are recorded in multiple clips lasting 16 seconds each. A finished video can include up to 256 clips, with a total length of about an hour.
Clips are stored as independent assets for easy editing and remixing, but play as a single seamless video.
How MixBit App Works

Touch anywhere on your mobile device screen and hold to record.
Drag and drop to rearrange, trim or delete clips, as well as record or publish, directly from your mobile device.
