Liberals call for investigation into hidden misogynistic label on Poilievre’s YouTube videos – National

Feds demand official inquiry into use of hidden labels embedded in Tory leader by Pierre Poilievre youtube videos.

A letter to House Speaker Anthony Rota alleges Poilievre deliberately uses tags that target misogynistic online groups and questions remain unanswered even after the new leader denies knowledge of the tags.

Global News reported earlier this month that Poilievre’s videos have long carried the hashtag #MGTOW, which stands for “Men Going Their Own Way” and is recognized as a nod to an anti-feminist movement.

The letter signed by Liberal MP Jennifer O’Connell calls on Rota and the House of Commons Board of Internal Economy to conduct a full investigation.

O’Connell argues that the president can investigate matters that may violate parliamentary codes of conduct and is responsible for overseeing a safe and respectful workplace.

Although the tags have now been removed from the videos, O’Connell says in the letter MPs should consider whether Poilievre takes online radicalization seriously enough.

In a statement to The Canadian Press, Poilievre said he condemns all forms of misogyny.

“I condemn this organization and corrected the problem as soon as it became apparent to me,” he said.
