It’s easier to like and comment on YouTube videos now

Companies often add features to their software to make it a bit more convenient to use. YouTube just did that by adding a new menu that will make it easier to like/unlike, share, and add videos to playlists. This new menu appears when you tap on the video.

A new menu lets you interact with YouTube videos

When watching a YouTube video in landscape mode, you have the option of swiping up in the video to access a menu that lets you interact with it. Besides showing you related videos, you can also like/unlike, share, and add videos to playlists. It was a quick and easy way to interact with video without having to rotate the device.

Even though it’s quite easy to do, the streaming service wants to make this process even easier. In a recent update, YouTube took these controls and made them available with just a tap. Just tap the video while watching it, and along with the play and skip controls, those same options will appear at the bottom. This is good because you will be able to interact with the video without related videos getting in the way of the content.

This feature involves commenting

You get the same number of controls with this new YouTube video menu with one more important element: comments. Usually you have to leave the video and go to the comments section to comment. Now there is a button in the menu that will allow you to access comments.

The comments section slides out from the right side of the screen, resembling live chat. Not only can you scan comments, but you can also comment directly from there. The keyboard will appear allowing you to post your comment without leaving the video.

Make sure to update your YouTube app

This new menu should be live on YouTube for now. Right now I’m using YouTube version 17.03.35. If you don’t see this new menu, you need to check if you have the updated version on your phone. Find YouTube on the Google Play Store and, if you see the “Update” option, it will give you the latest update. If you don’t see the option and still can’t access the menu, it may not have rolled out to your device.

I was able to get it on my Pixel 6 and my LG Velvet. If by any chance you don’t have it yet, it shouldn’t be too long to wait.
